Geisinger Health System Announces its List of Participating Insurance Plans
January 28, 2010 by Craig
I have been told by Geisinger that they will accept ANY PFFS as long as the patient has a medical file number on file with Geisinger – in other words, was a patient in the past at any Geisinger facility – regardless of what insurance they had at that time. Also, that same person said they actually would not turn ANYBODY away who walked in the door with a PFFS. Go figure. I have many clients who have PFFS plans – not Geisinger plans – who go to Geisinger, and have never had a problem with acceptance.
GH will not accept any PFFS Ma’s that are not their own for over a year now. If the patient has been to GH and used their PFFS plan in the past their insurance will be accepted and considered Grandfathed. Therefore, you do not want to sell a new client a PFFS that is not GHP if they plan on going to GH.
What about PFFS MA’s? Since they ARE Medicare (Part C), I assume they are accepted?
