Consumer Segment – Individual Medicare PFFS chargeback’s from Aetna

Below is an important announcement from Aetna.

Individual Medicare PFFS Chargeback’s

During December 2009, the enrollment team processed terminations for all Medicare PFFS members in markets where Aetna withdrew products in 2010.

Brokers that were assigned to these members were given a ‘chargeback’ which appeared on their commission statement dated December 14, 2009.

Over the weekend, Aetna reversed those chargeback’s, bringing their balance to zero.  This will be reflected on their December 21, 2009 compensation statement.

What about their Dual Advantage Plans? Can we expect them to do the same on this line of business? I would hope the logic of their PFFS decision carries over to their dual programs, after all it was their decision to leave this market just like PFFS

Agents have to be thrilled with this decision. Aetna I am glad I met ya! Unless I am missing something, I don’t know any carrier that is this fair in these kinds of situations.

I wish they were more competitive in Central PA. They are the kind of carrier that I want alongside of me in these very uncertain times.
