Health Made Simple, an Under Age 65 Individual Health Product from New Era Life Insurance Company, is no longer accepting new business after June 15th, 2010. The annual or lifetime limits, dependents to age 26, acceptance of children with pre-existing conditions and the Medical Loss Ratio seem to be the key mandates that are influencing the organization’s decision to no longer accept new business. This will not affect current members of the plan, as they will be in grandfather status. We expect New Era Life Insurance Company to administer the grandfathered plans with the same strong service commitment they have given their members since 1924. A representative of the company has stated a new offering is in the works and will be released before the end of 2010. The following Company/States will be discontinued on 2/15/09: Illinois for CGI and Provident and Mississippi for Provident.
Net affect is the following states will be available for agent sold Medicare Supplement business after 2/15/09:
CRL: Virginia only
Continental General: Delaware, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconcin
Provident American: Colorado, Kentucky, Louisana, Montana and Nevada
There are still many states available under United Teacher Associates (UTA) and Loyal American.

This is an article which basically describes some of the fallout of Wellpoint discontinuing Unicare/Anthem/Empire Enhanced and Enhanced Plus PFFS. About 20,000 Medicare Beneficiaries will lose their coverage and can either enroll in another MA plan or get Guaranteed Issue Med Sup.

We are EXTREMELY PLEASED to announce that Medicare Quote Engine (www.MedicareQuoteEngine.com) has been updated with ALL 2009 Medicare Advantage Plan data. We are in the testing phase at this point, so please be patient!
This means, that for 2009, we will have:
Essentially, you will be able to see every Medicare Advantage product that exists for 2009. Additionally, we are adding new query capabilities to allow you to retrieve the plan types you are looking for.
Due to this massive expansion, we had to change some of the displayed information. For those companies which we are contracted with, we will provide a link to the product page (https://ritterim.pbwiki.com/Ritter+2009+Medicare+Advantage+Products) for you to drill down and see very detailed product features. For those companies where we do not have contracts to market, we will not link or will simply link to their homepage.
We are hopeful that we will be able to provide additional details on plan design features for these 125,000+ combinations before the November 15th AEP season begins, however, we cannot be certain. In the meantime, you will have the resources to research your primary counties.
