Aetna Signs 5 year Agreement with Geisinger Health System for Commercial Business

It appears that this agreement is only for Commercial Health business (not Medicare advantage).  The 5 year agreement expands Aetna’s network in NE Pennsylvania for their commercial group members. Here is the announcement from the Aetna website.

Aetna Sees $50 Million in Reinsurance from ACA; Plans Georgia Expansion

CMS Hands Out Civil Money Penalties (CMP)

Recently, CMS issues 3 Civil Money Penalties to Managed Care Organizations (MCO’s) with Medicare advantage contracts.  The MCO’s and amounts were as follows:  BCBS of NC ($290,250), Cambia Health Solutions ($254,000) and Cuatro, LLC ($80,600).  The CMP’s were for failure to provide enrollees with Medicare benefits in accordance with CMS requirements.
