CVS Caremark to Buy Universal American Part D Business

Today CVS Caremark announced the acquisition of Universal American’s Part D business.  CVS Caremark will buy the entire company for $1.25 billion.  In addition to the $1.25 billion, current shareholders will be issued stock in a new company which will contain the traditional insurance business and Medicare Advantage business of Universal American.  The Part D business of Universal American will stay with CVS Caremark.
