For those who don’t have time to read two 2,000+ page bills, here is a great resource from the Kaiser Family Foundation!
It’s only 40 pages and a great resource for understanding what’s in these bills (current law and the reconciliation now in the Senate).
Of note, I finally found a source that indicates that the 0.9% increase on “Medicare Part A Taxes” are NOT indexed to inflation! (See the bottom left of page 9). Also, the 3.8% “Medicare Part A Tax” on unearned income is NOT indexed to inflation! Virtually all taxes are indexed to inflation, so it was hard for me to believe that this one was NOT until I found a creditable source I could point to. By not indexing this tax, it clearly produces more revenue as wages inflate over the next 5, 10, 20 years.
