Congress’s failure to enact physical therapy and similar treatments in the healthcare reform bill will affect Medicare beneficiaries who need this coverage. Tennessee state hospitals could lose a half billion dollars under the cumulative effect of Gov. Phil Bredesen’s proposed TennCare cuts. Last year legislators approved cuts and when combined with the governor’s proposed 2010-2011 budget,  hospitals stand to lose as much as $526 million in state and federal funding.
