In an interview with George Stphananopoulos on ABC News, the President indicated more willingness to slim down health care reform to areas where there is bi-partisan support.
The New York Times reported similarly, that the probable direction of Health Care Reform would be in a less comprehensive overhaul and more focused on key issues.
I CAN’T BELIEVE AURELIA MENTIONED THE PRESIDENT AND BEING “MY BROTHER’S KEEPER” IN THE SAME PARAGRAPH.
“The blame should go to both parties for not working to make meaningful reform to health insurance.”
Republican ideas have been ignored or shut out of the process from Day One.
Attempts to make both House and Senate versions work as one were held behind closed doors with ZERO Republican input.
Despite campaign promises on transparency, health care reform has been an opaque process….by design.
There is a need for reform. The blame should go to both parties for not working to make meaningful reform to health insurance. Such as finding ways to reduce the cost of insurance. There have been many ideas going around as to how to actually control the cost of insurance and none of them are being talked about. Maybe there will finally be some quality talking going on to actually fix the problems. Do not just put something together just to put a product out! That is foolish and just the wrong way to do it. I am for reform, just do it right!
“Aside from making insurance coverage one big entitlement paid off the backs of small business, normal working tax payers, and our seniors (medicare cuts); it does nothing for reform.”
Exactly
There is no tax relief for those who buy their own health insurance, there is no “reform ” which makes health insurance more affordable, and there is no reform in areas that affect Democrats’ cronies/political allies.
And yet they wonder why the population in fly over country won’t stand for the nonsense.
Pelosi has now determined that she, Reid, and Obama will be unable to cram this thing down our throats in present form.
Good.
Start over and get it right. Leave the political, social, and economic world view agenda advancement out of the equation this time.
What planet are you from? Have you actually read these 2 bills and what are in them? Aside from making insurance coverage one big entitlement paid off the backs of small business, normal working tax payers, and our seniors (medicare cuts); it does nothing for reform.
Let’s look at the basics when I can insure a 30yr old male for about $1500 a year and under the house bill the cost to insure the same person is $2967 a year. Almost double! That’s not reform. Don’t get me wrong depending on the persons income they may not pay the full amount but, that’s because our tax dollars will pay the rest. It’s a joke! Health reform off the backs of everyone who works and pays taxes.
“Being my brothers keeper”??? in otherwards you feel that everyone who works for a living and pays taxes should somehow be responsible to pay for everyone else. Have you actually looked at the number of uninsured and see some of the primary reasons they are that way? Because they want too.
I have been in the underage health business now for over 15 yrs and I can tell you we have a group of people that don’t want to work, feel they are healthy and nothing can happen to me, and most of all now that if something does their “brothers keeper” will be their to pick them up via- (Welfare, the gov’t, our tax dollars).
One thing I do agree with in the bills is mandate for coverage with the exception of I reccomend the fines be 10 times higher. It’s a damn shame to have to force someone in to being responsible.
I think for to long we have been depending on “my brothers’ keeper” when we should have been taught being responsible. Parents have steered away from teaching personal responsiblity instead they teach the gov’t will always take care of you if you can’t.
To be very honest joking aside I think you need a BIG AIR CLEANER- so that you will be able to see the issues much clearer.
Sorry, the President is caving in. He had a good compassionate plan that helped all the people; however, if past inequities are to be rectified, people must make sacrifices for a few years. Trials and experiments will trim off the areas that are not doable nor feasible nor cost-effective. People need to understand the broad picture, not the o0bscured picture. No one wants to practice the Christian dictates of “being my brothers’ keeper” -however, when the “uninsured – no health care” garner stranged diseases – and sneezes, coughs, rides the train, the busses, stand in an airport etc – remember we all breathe in the same air, making us all a “victim of the same “unknown, new, uncontrolled diseases. The haves and the have nots need to get on the same page and see that this is a national health problem. BECAUSE, WE ALL BREATHE IN THE SAME AIR.
