Here is the article from the Detriot Free Press.  BCBS Michigan was seeking a 31.2% rate increase on it’s Medigap plans to stem the $358 million in losses the company has accrued since 2003.  The DOI granted a maximum rate increase of 3.8%.  BCBS Michigan has not decided if it will appeal.

I found this letter to be interesting a a worthwhile read.  It was written by the Insurance Commissioner in Oklahoma (a Democrat, I believe) to Oklahoma Senator Coburn.  I found point #12 on the last page to be interesting in asserting that insurance premiums would “rise substantially”, however, due to “generous subsidies” the CBO’s conclusion is [...]

This story broke a few minutes agent by the AP.  Developing. . . The details of the plan seem to be a bit sketchy.  The tentative agreement seems to replace a “full-blown” public options with a private insurance arrangement which will be supervised by the Office of Personnel Management which oversees the Federal Employees Health [...]
