Michigan DOI Limits Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s Medigap Rate Increase

Here is the article from the Detriot Free Press. BCBS Michigan was seeking a 31.2% rate increase on it’s Medigap plans to stem the $358 million in losses the company has accrued since 2003. The DOI granted a maximum rate increase of 3.8%. BCBS Michigan has not decided if it will appeal.

I found this letter to be interesting a a worthwhile read. It was written by the Insurance Commissioner in Oklahoma (a Democrat, I believe) to Oklahoma Senator Coburn.
