I spoke with a friend who is an RSM with Aetna. He believes there will be another rate "adjustment" before the new plans come out in June.

This doesn't really make sense in CA because I can move my clients on their birthday to a lower priced plan - even within the same company.

So if Aetna comes out with a new series in June, I can stick them with all their own sick clients.

Rick:

I actually didn't believe it when I saw it. I almost deleted the notice when I first saw it because I thought that they had already taken their increase for the year. Then I look at the rates (just to be sure) and was shocked that they had done this.

If I knew this was coming, I wouldn't have bothered to market their Med Supp product at all in California. Doesn't make any sense to me to do this now with the rates changing in just a few months. They could have put this off to AT LEAST June, if they were sitting on a non-implemented rate increase!!

They just raised premiums effective 11/1 and now they do it again (and substantially) 2 months later.

I give up on these guys. I don't think I can submit another piece of business. Aetna is not trustworthy and gives CA agents a bad reputation by using them.

Fortunately, Lincoln Heritage Life is user friendly and has terrific rates.
