This article leads me to believe the agent or insurance professional community has a bright future. Simply put, most consumers don’t understand what they have or what options are available to them regarding health insurance – employer or non employer sponsored. I don’t know that I agree, with those surveyed, that the current system works OR do I lean in the direction that it needs a drastic overhaul (I think it is apparent there are some things that need to be addressed with the current system – but that is for future blogs…). But the offerings for consumers are going to get more complicated and consumers will need an unbiased opinion of what is best for them. As the article states, “One in five Americans said making health care and costs decisions is more difficult than other activities…”. That 20% will increase with our economic climate and the health care reform on the horizon. Agents and insurance professionals will be looked upon, by consumers, to help. Now is the time for agents to expand their knowledge, services and expertise to support this consumer demand for options.
