Editor’s Note: Click here for an update on agent use plan data.
Aetna will be using the AHIP certification in addition to a Product training module. If you have already completed the 2010 AHIP certification with another carrier, you will not be required to pay another fee. You will, however, need to register (so Aetna knows you’ve completed AHIP) AND complete the Aetna product training.
If you register with Aetna for AHIP, you will be able to be reimbursed based on your production (for details, see the Certification page).
You can find instructions on Certifying with Aetna for 2010 by clicking here.
If you are not licensed with Aetna, but would like to represent Aetna in 2010 for PDP and/or Medicare Advantage products, you should complete the Certification FIRST and then download the licensing paperwork from our website (log in required). Please be advised that the appointment process takes several weeks, so you will want to start soon.
Last I heard, Aetna notified agents that they will not be letting independent agents sell Medicare Advantage.
I haven’t heard this. Agents will be able to sell HMO/PPO/SNP/PDP Medicare Advantage. Agents will not be able to get commission on PFFS plans available in 2010. However, I don’t know where the 2010 PFFS plans will be, other than to say it’ll be a lot less than 2009.
