Everyone who thinks CMS will NOT start limiting our commission on Med Supps raise their hand. (sound of crickets chirping).
Give the feds enough time (maybe 2 years) and they will control all private industry. Can you say “socialism?”
Sorry if I’m bitter but I sure am going to miss our country.

Thanks, Craig. Since the directive states that insurers have until July 1 to submit commission changes, if required and based upon the chart, for the remainder of 2009, does this in any way mean that commissions earned prior to July 1 will have to wait until after this submission, or can insurers continue with paying commissions earned from Jan 1 – current date MA or MAPD sales?? (Even though, to date, most agents still haven’t been paid Jan 1 – current date commissions for MA or MAPD sales).
Just another agent here. I think that although it says within the range and that could mean a decrease that I believe that CMS is giving companies a chance to increase their commissions within the range perhaps to the maximum before the yearly increases get applied moving forward. Last year the companies and agents were all blindsided with last minute regulations and everyone guessing as to what CMS wanted done. Agents were not even aware of what their comps were going to be until in most cases after the services were performed. Companies were guessing at exactly what CMS wanted done on comps and some of them were under the range that is now the acceptable norm to CMS although they have undercut a valuable professional service by the agent. Sorry but I’ve got to call it as I see it and why CMS wouldn’t want an enrollee to have guidance on something like important medical benefits and RX is beyond me. This chance to adjust, in my opinion, is to get on even footing moving forward, not to affect the current PROLONGED non-paying of agent comps. Just my guess.
Curtis:
I don’t believe this will have any effect on speed (or lack thereof) of commission payments. This will affect only a small minority of carriers, in any case.
