It seems to be the key sticking point with regard to Health Care Reform is the creation of a Public Plan Option which would compete with Private insurance. There is also some debate around a mandate to purchase health insurance and whether or not to tax Health Care Benefits. Robert Pear of the New York Times penned this article on the Republican reaction to the Thursday, June 4th Senate Finance Committee meeting and to President Obama’s letter which supported the Public Plan Option.
Republicans Frustrated over Size, Shape and Cost of Healthcare Reform Proposals

DURING THE CAMPAIGN, THEN SENATOR OBAMA CHASTISED THEN SENATOR CLINTON’S HEALTHCARE PROPOSAL FOR REQUIRING EVERYONE TO BE COVERED AND HE CHASTISED THEN REPUBLICAN JOHN MCCAIN’S PROPOSAL FOR TAXING EMPLOYER PAID INSURANCE BENEFITS. SINCE BOTH APPEAR TO BE INCLUDED IN THE DEMOCRAT PROPOSAL, I ASSUME THE PRESIDENT WILL VETO THE BILL (LOL). I WANDER WHY MR. PEAR DIDN’T POINT THIS OUT. OKAY, IT’S A JOKE– I KNOW JOHN MCCAIN WAS NEVER A REPUBLICAN.
