It seems to me there are always agents who will break the rules (Atlanta, Georgia was the big problem I understand) – forged applications, misleading will ALWAYS happen as long as there is money to be made for enrollments – and especially in 100% commission fmos.
CMS definitely oversteps their bounds constantly – most recently lifting pretty much ALL marketing for MA plans. I do understand their desire to protect the medicare beneficiary, but enough is enough. I think WC pissed them off with the scam that was occurring in 07′ when 3 of their top dogs resigned… If you looked at ANY MA company – and I mean ANY… you’d find enough to suspend them for a while – who’s next?
Maybe CMS should just decide EVERYTHING about what’s best for seniors and make them all take the plan of whoever pays them the most… I mean, uh, whichever plan is best for ALL BENEFICIARIES NATION WIDE…
Well, this sort of explains some issues. I wonder if all of the medicare insurance providers will be getting similar evaluations, or was this particular company “attacked” for political motives?
I was with WellCare nearly 2 years. I have never known a company so concerned with compliance. It is in my estimation a political move as suggested here which is why I am replying. The whole idea of CMS frightens me. Not because they are who they are but because they have successfully usurped power not meant to be. Their only power should be to make certain the product that the company produces meets or exceeds the guidelines they put forth to protect the senior citizens. The methodology of how the product is sold is the concern of the Dept. of Financial Services or namely the Dept of Insurance. I would be willing to put money on the fact that there isn’t one person representative of the insurance industry on their board or such stupidity would never have been allowed. The only people whom will suffer for this stupidity will be the general public and just to make sure there are no repercussions, I must add that the above opinion is exactly that, MY OPINION.
Mr. Gardner, that may be just your OPINION, but I can’t imagine the realistic existence of a single piece of evidence to the contrary.
CMS is a joke! – and a BAD joke at that. I put together a 6 page summation of my experiences with them that I think is a bit to lengthy to post on here. But if you care to drop me a line at jvabsher@insightbb.com, I’ll be happy to email you a copy.
Judging from your post, you might find it enlightening.
