One other Geisinger Note, their formulary is not the strongest out there. I could enroll more with a stronger formulary on the RX side.
Geisinger is a highly rated company and we get very little if any service issues for the clients on the books currently. I think they’ve won every award out there but I have not looked closely at whether or not it is mostly due to their local HMO book of business or their MA business as a whole. I think they just rated #4 nationally for MAs.
Having said that, the biggest thing on a Geisinger MA sale in my opinion is to fully educate the benefits. Geisinger closely tracks with Original Medicare. In other words, they REQUIRE the 3 day hospital stay before Skilled Nursing Home coverage would apply just like Original Medicare. In Original Medicare you had to have the 3 day inpatient stay and be in an improving condition for coverage. They also do not have worldwide coverage (except just like Medicare in very limited circumstances) I also believe that they do not cover the 1st 3 pints of blood.
If a client is fully educated and these things do not concern them then it is a great product. I have heard that many hospitals give the 1st 3 pints of blood now (not sure on this) and many of our clients do not travel, so my biggest concern when placing coverage with Geisinger is the Skilled Nursing Home coverage. We have so many options in our county and most of them state no prior hospitalization requirement for Skilled Nursing. In my opinion, if Geisinger also did this, that would take away the biggest barrier to more enrollments locally. They also tend to have a little higher co-pays then some of the other plans available here locally but service-wise they seem to live up to their awards and that’s very important.
We also do not get as many service issues with Coventry Advantra as some of the other MA carriers. Their benefit plans this year are very popular in our area.
This really stinks! I have been busting it to work so hard and close many sales and this is what I have to look forward to! Very unhappy right now. It’s not even half of what I thought i was getting paid.
I’m just in disbeleif about this whole Coventry thing let alone Stark & CMS! According to the “2009 Medicare & You” book that all Medicare members recieve every year. Take a look at it, Geisinger gets a 5 star rating (pages 119m thru 119u upper right). Coventry Advantra gets 3 star rating (pages 119 thru top of page 119b). When at an appointment today (just like most of you out on Saturdays, no rest for the tired helping a lost senior, while Stark enjoy’s his paid holiday, however many days) showed her the new Advantra Diamond plan, giving her better benny’s and saving her $1,200 a year I was asked “why can’t I get this Geisinger it gets 5 stars?” I honestly explained why (I am not appointed). Her reply was “wouldn’t you rather be appointed with a 5 star instead of a 3 star company?” That being said what kind of games does Geisinger play (follow the leader or is Geisinger a leader?) I need an honest opinion on how they treat their Brokers. 5 stars tells me a lot! I want what’s best for the Seniors I meet and I also would like to be treated fairly. I’m still trying to figure out last years Coventry Commissions?#$%@ I honestly wish that Stark could walk in our shoes! I wonder how much he knows about Medicare? OK, said enough, I could go on for hours!
Ive cotacted Stark…and to your surprise,,no respose. I am also fed up with not gettin paid our worth
i dont know weather to laugh or hold my head an screem………i just feel iam dreeming ,,,,,living in one of the greatest ……communist country,,,,,,,,,,we all working for abby block and peter stark………..oh by the when would peter stark start levelizing commission for the HEDGE FUNDS GOOD OLD BOYS OVER THERE IN WALL STREET does any body have an ideay?
How can it take so long to get approval of the commissions? It didn’t take very long for CMS to shoot down the $500 payments. We need to know what we are going to get paid and this partial pay is rediculous. I guess I’ll call my mortgage company and utility companies and tell them I can only pay 40% now and they will have to contact the government to find out when I’m allowed to receive the rest!!!! This has been going on for months and it’s really rediculous.
This is total B.S. My FMO told me that Coventry had released the commissions and I would get $275 per MA-PD on an MGA level. Now the state $170 and the rest will come. They want to avoid chargebacks and make sure they are paying the correct amount? They have no intentions OF EVER giving us more than the $170. The only variable commission amount in question is whether or not it is a NEW part C or a replacement part C. If we indicate on the form it is a replacement why would they hold the rest of the commission BECAUSE THEY DON”T PLAN ON PAYING IT!
I for one have not replaced any MA’s written out of my office the first 2 years. Todays Options raised the premium in my areas by 40% and tripled some of the co-pays. Why would I not show them Coventry or something else. However my FMO stuck their foot in their mouth when they told me $275 and to go to work. As soon as I replaced the FIRST policy I lost ALL of my residuals from the other company. I will be getting $275 from somebody.
Learned quickly in this business DONT TRUST ANYBODY GET IT IN WRITING AND RECORD ALL PHONE CONVERSATIONS.
If I receive less than the $275 as stated by my FMO I will immediately file a suit for lost income and damages and against the FMO not Coventry. I would suggest everyone else do the same.
RECORD, DOCUMENT AND RECORD.
I totally agree..it is alot of work and we get paid peanuts
The seniors are given an opportunity to change their MA or MAPD or PD. Why are we getting less commssion it still is alot of work and time and fuel to see them to explain about the new plan that they want to maybe switch too. And these seniors are referrals from my clients and they like how I have helped them during the year! I believe that there are agents like myself that really do care what is in the seniors best interest and help then to understand their options they have this coming year.
oh well this is what you call the kiss of death for the top producer,,,,,,,,,,the new once will suck up the 170 comm be smileing to the bank,,,,,,,,,,,complement of peter stark
ditto…..I would like to suit stark
How Generous… They don’t seem very confident that their commission structure is going to get approval. All this work and running around for $170, I’m not greedy but I need to pay my bills and this will not work!!!!!
