Please scour your records from 2006 and 2007 for any information you have on bonuses paid on Medicare Advantage business for those years. I don’t need anything from 2008. Additionally, if you won a company trip based on 2006 or 2007 MA writings, please e-mail me with the trip guidelines and the 1099 amount for the trip, if you have it. I’m trying to compile as much compensation-related detail as possible to get as complete a picture of total compensation for ’06 and ’07.
I have all the base commission info. If you have bonus/trip info, just post a comment and include your e-mail address and I’ll reach out to you. Or just e-mail me if you know my e-mail address (I don’t publish it on websites due to spam).
Thanks!
Craig
Send us cash under the table. I won’t tell !!!! LOL
Also what are these insurance companies doing on our behalf? I guarantee if they started standing behind us things could get changed.Someone needs to let them know if they don’t stand up for us( the one’s who make them all their money) we will not sell their product.
Why can’t the insurance companies pay us a salary during the busiest months with the stipulation we write a specific amount like 10 apps per month with a commission that is suitable to CMS. Also is there any stipulation to the amount in bonus that can be paid? I’ve written over 15 apps and I still don’t have any idea what my pay will be. I guarantee I will never do this again, without knowing or if they slash the pay.
Also to reinforce your idea that companies started looking to the agent force as cost was lower for them, Geisinger started out wanting to do everything direct and only have agents channel client list to them and Highmark only recently opened up to the agent marketplace.
Humana had a bonus during the end of 2007 time also, I just don’t have the detail anywhere handy.
I don’t rep Cigna but I seem to remember that they had a rather nice bonus in 2007 or towards the end of 2007.
Craig – I don’t recall any bonuses which I qualified for until 2008. I did qualify with AmerProg for trip to Cabo – for 2 people (was not 1099′d). I would imagine that they (and possibly other carriers) offered similar trips for 2006 business as well.

In 2006 & 2007, aetna paid a $100 bonus per ap if the broker sold more than 25 aps. This was in addition to the initial commission of approximately $325 per.
Hello Craig
Thank you for your support.
Very important to argue with CMS:
1) How come this only affects Brokers?
You mean it is ok for an agent that works for companies like healthfirst and Wellcare to get paid over $40,000 in yearly salary, plus benefits and also get paid $280 commissions no matter if the member was previously enrolled in an MA plan?
and brokers are not allowed to get paid? not even $300 commissions and no benefits and no salary?
That is totally insane!
2) I have 40 agents who will no longer work Medicare advantage if they will not get paid first year commissions if they enroll a client who previously had an MA even if a different agent had enrolled them in that first plan.
How can I pay over $15 dollars per lead (Over $45 per sale) and then have to wait a year to maybe get paid $12 to $15?
Do we do this just for fun?
3) How can they say that someone who was enrolled in MAs previously is an expert in the products if I’m an agent who manages over 40 agents and yet I have many questions every AEP?
How can they sleep at night if they let the carriers keep millions of dollars in commissions when they get paid from the government no matter what?
So they are giving more to the big guys and letting the little people get eaten by sharks.
This makes no sense.
I believe that Coventry PFFS also had a bonus running at same time as the Advantra PPO bonus, no detail saved here though.
Health America Advantra PPO – Bonus announced for 11/17/2007 to 12/14/2007. Can email flyer showing detail.
Sept 2007 – Trip to Cabo San Lucas with AP TOs for Production previous year. Cal was there.
AP TOs Bonus announced for production 12/11/2007 to 1/31/2008 which I believe was later extended to 3/31/2008. That’s the tail end of 2007 into 2008.
