This is from Universal American, but it applies to all companies.
It is critically important that agents NOT accept any enrollment applications for MA or PDP plans prior to November 15, 2008. Agents must also advise Medicare beneficiaries who complete enrollment forms for MA or PDP plans not to send the enrollment application until November 15, 2008.
Please be advised that Universal American strictly follows a Zero Tolerance Policy. Prior to November 15, 2008, any agent who accepts an MA or PDP enrollment application for a 1/1/09 effective date is subject to contract termination. This is also true for agents who do not instruct enrollees properly regarding the mailing of enrollment applications. As a reminder, prospective members may not mail enrollment applications to the plan until on or after November 15, the first day of the Annual Enrollment Period.
Anonymous,
Good point. You may take 2009 applications on those who are in their “Initial Coverage Election Period”. Most SEP’s for a 1/1/09 effective would probably be taken in December, but in the event you had an SEP where the effective date was delayed (like someone moving service areas), you could take this as well.
Great question! Thank you!
What about applications for those people who are aging in on 1/1/09, or they have an SEP effective 1/1/09?
