Jesse:
If the plan went away, they would be guaranteed issue back to Medicare Supplement. However, if the plan cut benefits and increased premiums, they would either, (1) have to stay in the plan or (2) find another Medicare Advantage plan, or (3) find a Med Supp company which doesn’t underwrite (maybe AARP or a Blues plan, but no guarantees here).
I’m unsure of the alternatives for under age 65 people on disability that currently has medicare and a private or medicare supp ins. plan — if they opt out of these plans and take an advantage plan & at a later date the advantage plan goes away — there would be nothing to replace it til they reach age 65, in some cases that is 20 yrs — are my concerns founded?
