I’m keeping an eye to see if there is a trend toward Hospital/Clinical Medical systems not accepting PFFS plans in light the coming Network requirements on PFFS in 2011. In this case, there were about 14 PFFS plan providers in the Service Area offering 50 different PFFS plans. Also of note, there were 12 HMO/PPO options available which this Medical System will continue to participate with.
Disclosure: I work for a plan that sells PFFS plans.
Not all PFFS plans have potential high out of pocket expenses. If they are having problems with certain plans that have high member OOP costs, then don’t accept those particular plans.
It’s obvious the reason that they don’t want to take PFFS is because they don’t like the medicare reimbursement rate. I wish they would just admit that.
